CEWiT is pleased to announce the launching of our new Emerging Scholars Research Experiences for Undergraduate Women (CEWiT/REU-W) program Here are the details and we encourage you to apply now.

Who is eligible?  This opportunity is open to female freshmen or sophomores on the IU-Bloomington campus, regardless of school, major or pre-major status.

What if I have no experience doing research?  No problem!  We are specifically seeking first and second year students for this program and you will learn the skills along the way.  The most important thing is for you to be interested in this opportunity, to select your top project choices to include with your application, to be willing to make the commitment and to have a high quality experience as an apprentice researcher.

What am I committing myself to in terms of time?  Here is a summary of the program elements:  a) The program will launch at the beginning of the second 8 weeks of the Fall 2014 semester and will continue throughout the spring semester; b) Each student will work 8-10 hours per week on the project; c) During the spring 2015 semester, participants will also simultaneously be enrolled in a 2-credit CEWiT undergraduate research methods class that will focus on continuing to develop research skills, project planning, giving elevator speeches and project progress reports, asking critical questions, designing and critiquing posters, and more.  At the end of the spring term all students will participate in a poster session on campus.
