Career information:
- I want to go to medical/dental/optometry/pharmacy/vet/PT/OT/etc. school. Where can I get information about this?
The Health Professions and Prelaw Center (HPPLC) is your best friend! Contact them at 855-1873 for an appointment with a pre-professional advisor.
- I want to go to graduate school. Where can I get information about this?
Check with the Career Development Center (www.indiana.edu/~career). The CDC periodically offers information sessions about graduate school, and they have reference materials and advisors who can help you make a decision about whether & where to go to graduate school.
The Peterson’s Guides are an “encyclopedia” of graduate programs. They offer information on many programs’ entrance requirements, tuition rates, and range of research areas. Look at the Peterson’s Guides at various university libraries (including the Biology library), or look at them online at http://www.petersons.com/.
It is also a good idea to speak with your professors and AIs about graduate school, and to perform research if possible. See the information on L490 and other research opportunities on our Biology Department website.
Finally, you might consider speaking with our graduate office in JH 142. They are aware of the policies of many graduate programs throughout the country.
Miscellaneous:
- My financial aid didn’t come through like I expected. What’s up?
I wish we knew! Check with the Office of Student Financial Assistance at 855-0321, located in Franklin Hall.
- I would like to do Overseas Study. How do I get started?
Check out the Overseas Study office in Franklin Hall 303! There are several study abroad advisors there, and they hold a Study Abroad 101 session every Wednesday at 4pm to give you the basics on overseas study options.
- Do you offer scholarships?
The Biology Department scholarships program is in the spring semester. Check out the opportunities here on the official Biology Department website. Also check any of the Scholarships links on the BioBlog sidebar.
