I am seeking a part-time research assistant to begin as soon as possible. General research in the lab seeks to understand the hormonal and genomic mechanisms of animal behavior,
with an emphasis on aggressive behavior in birds. The technician’s primary
duties will include basic molecular techniques (e.g. RNA and DNA extractions,
PCR and quantitative PCR, etc.) and data entry. Additional responsibilities
involving hands-on research with birds in captivity and/or in the wild may be
added in the future (e.g. capturing/tagging birds, collecting and processing
blood and tissue samples, etc.). The ideal candidate will have good
problem-solving abilities, be organized, and have excellent attention to
detail. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in
molecular techniques, such as pipetting, PCR, or RNA extractions. The position
is ideal for a highly motivated person interested in gaining additional
research experience prior to starting graduate or medical school. Hours and
pay: 10-15 hours per week at $9-11/per hour (depending on qualifications).
To apply, email Kimberly Rosvall (firstname.lastname@example.org)
and include a cover letter, CV, and a list of 3 references (with phone numbers
and email addresses). Review of applications will begin Feb 1, 2014.
