IU Arts & Sciences Career Services is working to create an Alumni Mentoring program. The pilot program is projected to begin mid-April, focused on students within departments related to the sciences. Participation as a mentee is a great opportunity to connect with a professional, and improve your networking skills. We ask the following of our mentees:
• Communication with your mentor a minimum of three times between April and July
o These “meetings” can take place via phone, Skype, Google Hangout etc.
o If interested and possible, you are encouraged to meet in person with your mentee
• Topic areas of discussion with your mentee include:
o Resume advice
o Mock interview practice
o Discussion regarding your field
o Your personal experiences within the field
• Attend an information session/orientation
o Wednesday April 9 at 10am
o Thursday April 10 at 11:30am or 5pm
You will be provided resources to aid in your discussions with your mentor, and are encouraged to contact the office with any questions or concerns. Students will also be asked to attend a short information session/orientation in order to ensure their preparedness for the program. If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity to connect with alums, or have any questions, please contact Stephen Amundson (firstname.lastname@example.org, 812-855-1342) from Arts & Sciences Career Services, by April 1, 2014. Thank you for your consideration.
