New premed students at IU Bloomington should plan to attend this Orientation Meeting featuring Rachel Tolen, Health Professions and Prelaw Center Assistant Director and Premedical Advisor, and Richard Hvale, Health Professions Advisor. This meeting is intended for freshman premed students, or any student at IU Bloomington considering the possibility of preparing for medical school admission. Find out the important steps you should take if you want to prepare for a career as a physician.

Biology professor Bill Ruf will hold an information meeting for Biology Dept. majors who might be interested in participating in this year’s intersession Costa Rica Program. The dates for this year’s program are December 27, 2014, through January 7, 2015. The information meeting will be held on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 3, at 4:00 p.m. in Jordan Hall A 302. Prof. Ruf will give a short presentation about the program and answer questions. It’s OK if you are unable to attend the meeting; you may e‐mail Prof. Ruf directly if you have questions. The course is BIOL‐L 433 Tropical Biology; participating Biology and Animal Behavior majors earn 3 upper‐level lab credits, while Microbiology majors earn upper-level elective credit. The deadline for submitting applications to the IU Office of Overseas Study is Sept. 15, 2014; the Overseas Study web site is at http://overseas.iu.edu/index.shtml.
