Volunteers needed for Biology outreach in kindergarten and 3rd-grade classrooms

IU Biology Outreach is looking for people interested in working with kindergarteners and 3rd graders in their classrooms at MCCSC elementary schools in Bloomington.

In kindergarten we focus on the diversity of life, which is the life science standard for the grade. In 3rd grade we focus on soils, plant anatomy, and plant growth.

The lessons we have developed are hands-on and experimentally driven. We ask volunteers to work with small groups of students to help them observe, investigate, and report their explorations on soil, plants, and animals.

Ideally we would like volunteers to help out in the same classroom for the 5 times we visit this fall as the children look forward to seeing their friends. The schedule is attached (page 1 is the 3rd grade schedule and page 2 is the kindergarten schedule): Revised Fall 2014 Outreach Schedule 9-2-14
