Study abroad scholarship opportunities (deadline October 3!) and scholarships for students with emergency need

Dear Student,

 

As we begin the fall semester, I want to make you aware of several scholarship opportunities, including two new scholarships that support overseas study experiences. Click the hyperlinks below for more information and application materials.

 

OVERSEAS STUDY SCHOLARSHIPS

 

NEW!  Cindy Simon Skjodt Study Abroad Scholarship: supports College students participating in IU-approved, credit-bearing overseas study experiences.

 

Eligibility Criteria: 

  • be pursuing a BA, BS, BFA, or BLS degree in the College of Arts and Sciences
  • be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at the time of application
  • have a minimum College GPA of 3.300 at the time of application
  • have been accepted to participate in an IU-approved, credit-bearing overseas study program

Note: Preference given to students with a major in Telecommunications

 

Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3

 

NEW!  Anderson Overseas Study Scholarship, established to help fund overseas study experiences for SGIS undergraduates.

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (minimum 12 credit hours) at the time of application with a major or minor in the School of Global and International Studies
  • have a minimum 3.000 cumulative GPA at the time of application
  • have been accepted to participate in an IU-approved, credit-bearing overseas study program

 

Deadline: 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 3

REMINDER:  Jane Bosart College Emergency Scholarship – provides financial assistance to undergraduate students in the College who encounter a significant financial hardship as they approach graduation that may affect their ability to complete their degree. Applications are reviewed and awards are made on a rolling basis. Applications for Fall 2014 are currently being accepted.

 

Eligibility criteria:

  • Indiana resident with a documented financial hardship
  • Current full-time status at IUB or in an IU-administered or IU co-sponsored overseas study program
  • Minimum College GPA of 2.750 at the time of application and be in good academic standing
  • Be eligible to graduate within three semesters of receiving an award
