Panel Discussion: The Politics of Midwestern Meat: Labor, Business, and the Environment

November 13; 7:30pm at the IMU (Georgian Room)

The modern meat industry, which revolves around giant slaughterhouses, feedlots, and Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (factory farms), has always been the subject of controversy. It is rare, however, for the various parties to come together in one room face-to-face, to discuss issues including sustainability, plant working conditions, immigration, nutrition, human health, animal welfare, and contract farming. This event features a panel of speakers from Indiana and beyond with diverse and sometimes conflicting perspectives on these issues.
