Volunteers needed – “Growing Opportunities” Greenhouse Education

Growing Opportunities’ is a new social-business project of the South Central Community Action Program which provides job-training opportunities for people with low-incomes with barriers to employment. Greenhouse education volunteers will assist individuals of varying ages and abilities, such as persons with traumatic brain injury, mental illness, memory impairment, or physical disabilities. Volunteers must be able to tolerate summer heat, occasionally lift heavy items and kneel for extended periods of time. A background in social work, nursing, teaching, or experience working with persons with disabilities is helpful, but not required. Minimum age is 18; 15 if with an adult.
