Reminder: we still hope to recover stolen bald eagle specimen

On May 20, 2015, someone jimmied a lock on a display case in the Biology Department in Jordan Hall and removed a bald eagle specimen from the case. We soon realized that the specimen had been removed, and a police report was filed with IUPD. It is a federal offense to own or sell taxidermic eagle specimens without a license from the Fish and Wildlife Department, which license IU has. No such new eagle specimens are permitted now, even if the bird dies of natural causes. The individual(s) responsible may not realize the seriousness of simply being in possession of this specimen, in addition to the significant prosecutable crime of removing it in the first place. If anyone has any information regarding the removal of this specimen, please report it to the IU biology department (gdemas@indiana.edu) or the IUPD (812-855-4111).
