Visit the IUB Department of Biology website at the Undergraduate Studies/Awards & Scholarships web page ( to review the application criteria for each of the above-named award to determine if you are eligible to apply for any of these awards.  The following documents are located on Undergraduate Studies/Awards & Scholarships web page and are needed to complete your application packet, so be sure to read these documents carefully:

1.  Application instructions (
2.  Application form (

For those of you who have submitted scholarship applications in previous years, be aware that there is a new procedure for uploading your application packet now that IU retired Oncourse.  Visit our Undergraduate Studies/Awards & Scholarships web page (  There in the middle of the page, you will find the links to the awards listed above.  Click on one of the above-named links to find the application criteria for that award.  On the right hand side of the application criteria page, you will also find a “How To Apply” side box.  At the middle of the “How To Apply” side box, there are instructions on how to format your application form and below that is a place to upload your completed application packet (one document, saved as a PDF in this order:  completed application form that lists the awards for which you are applying; your resume or C.V.; and personal statement) by clicking on the link to the “Applications” dropbox.  Name your packet as follows:  your Last Name your first name the year 2017.  For instance, if I submitted an application packet, it would be saved as Wyss_kathy_2017.pdf.  Some students prepare their application form and find that it appears to be blank.  If that’s the case, be sure to check the “How To Apply” side box’s section on how to format your application form.  You might need the new version of Adobe Acrobat and the “How To Box” tells you how to download this free software package.  It also tells you how to save your document if you are a PC user or a Mac user.

Faculty and postdoctoral fellow recommendations for these awards are also due on February 20, 2017, at 11:59 PM.   The “How To Box” has a place at the very bottom where your recommender can upload his/her letter via the “Recommendations” drop box. The letter should also be saved as a PDF and the document should be named with your Last Name the Recommender’s Last Name and the year 2017.  For instance if Clay Fuqua wrote a recommendation letter for Jane Jones, his document would be saved as:  Jones_Fuqua_2017.pdf.  Be sure to remind your recommender of this deadline as well.  (Remember that the Frey Indiana Daffodil Inc. Scholarship requires two letters of recommendation, all other awards require one.

Should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
