Increase your value to your research lab: hunting and gathering literature and data sources

Workshop description:

This workshop targets undergraduate biology students who work in research labs or may participating in intensive research projects. However, anyone interested in this workshop is welcome to attend.

Go beyond Google Scholar and harness the power of Scopus, PubMed, the Dryad data repository, the databases from the National Center for Biotechnology Information (GenBank, BLAST, Protein), Biological Abstracts, the Biodiversity Heritage Library, JSTOR, the iDigBio portal, and others. The session will also show you how to get what you find into tools like EndNote and Zotero for citation management. The Librarians will be available to tailor recommendations to your research interests and will teach you the top tips for successfully using these terrific products.

Become a stronger member of your lab’s team or just learn how to harness the power of your search strategies in this workshop. Join us for a fun and helpful hour; feel free to drop in anytime 1-2 p.m.
