The money is there to pay for professional school.

David Owen, former director of Admissions and Financial Aid at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, will talk about how one pays for professional school.  He will go over the common sources for funding professional school—loans, scholarships repayment and loan forgiveness programs—and things to be considering when you apply for financial aid for professional school. Also, Lt. Carolyn Holman will talk about the Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program. This is a great way to graduate from professional school debt free!

AMWA Health Professionals Brunch

The American Medical Women’s Association is hosting a Health Professionals Brunch on April 20 from 11am-1pm in the IMU Georgian Room. The brunch will be with Dr. Dukes and Dr. Woods, who will be giving a talk called “Women in Medicine: Loving the Work We Do!” This event will be with them and fellow medical school students and is a great opportunity to network! For non-AMWA members, the cost of the event is $5. Dress is business casual.

Dr. Antiño Allen Visiting 4/17/19 — Part of the Minority Alumni Speaker Series

A AllenOn Wednesday, April 17th, Dr. Antiño Allen will be returning to the IU Bloomington campus to present the first ever Minority Alumni Speaker Series. Dr. Allen received his MA and PhD from the IU Biology Department in 2010, and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences with a focus on neuroscience research.

Dr. Allen’s visit will consist of two parts: a Q&A luncheon for students about his career as a graduate student and a young faculty member and a scientific lecture. The Q & A luncheon will take place on April 17th from Noon – 1:30pm in the IMU Sassafras Room. Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP, so that we can order enough food.

His scientific lecture titled, “Effects of Space Radiation on Cognition: Implications for Future Trips to Mars” will take place at 4:00pm in Myers Hall 130 with a reception following in the Jordan Hall Atrium.
